James Newton Polander

02/14/1948 - 05/10/2022

James (Jim) Newton Polander passed away peacefully May 10, 2022, on the way home from the hospital.

He was born, raised and educated in Colusa. He was a big 9.8 lb. Valentine baby born in 1948, to Newton/Helen Torres Polander.

He was a good basketball player in high school and went on to enjoy golf and bowling. German Shepherds were the only dog for him and you could often see one riding in the bed of his pickup.

He served on the Grand Jury for one year. His passion/profession was farming and did so for 40 years, retiring due to health problems.

On March 12, 1981, he married the love of his life, Chris Francis, and enjoyed 41 years together, boating, and later 5th wheeling.

He is survived by his wife, Chris; son Marc (Tanya) and grandsons Jarin and Hayden from Chico; nieces Susan (Vince) Warm from Loomis and Laura Griggs from San Clemente; second nephew Jamie (Jessica) Warm and children Donovan/Simona from Santa Barbara; one aunt and several cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents Newt/Helen; sister Shirley Griggs; grandparents Joe/Maria Torres and John/Anna Polander and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

In lieu of flowers please donate to charity of choice. Jim was inurned and will be entombed upon wife’s death at Calvery Cemetery in Citrus Heights.
