Janice Arleen Gori

04/20/1936 - 11/16/2021

Janice Arleen Gori was born April 20, 1936 to Albert Frederick Leal (Pappy) and Mary Madeline Machado (Nonny). She passed away Nov. 16, 2021, at the age of 85, of an ischemic stroke.

Brothers Alan Leal (deceased) wife Nonie, Wayne Leal wife Bonnie. Sisters Margery Mason (deceased) Lynne Dearlove husband Dave.

Janice married Loren Scilingo Sr. (deceased) at the age of 19 and had five children. Laurel

Lawson (deceased) Lynette Wright husband Franklin, Loren Scilingo, Jr. Sheila Ellison girlfriend, Lanelle Pierce husband Fred, Leigh Ann Scilingo Sonny boyfriend.

She has 13 grandchildren of which Trent Wright is deceased and Lorene Scilingo is deceased 16 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. They call her “Nana”.

She married Lawrence Gori in 1967 and was married to him until his death in 2002.

Janice earned an AA Degree in Early Childhood Education and graduated with honors in 1976.

She started working for the Richmond Unified School District while attending college in 1973. 

She worked as a teacher for 25 years and made many life long friends with co-workers and students.

She lived in Rodeo, Calif. until 1999 then moved to a small country town in Northern Caif. called Stonyford of which she was a resident for 25 years until her passing.

She loved collecting antiques and sharing her many finds. She loved animals of which she had many. She enjoyed meeting new people on her outings and always enjoyed a good story.

She always lent a helping hand to anyone in need. Her charitable contributions were many. She donated to numerous animal sanctuaries, Paralyzed Veterans of America and the National Arbor Day Foundation among others.

We will forever miss and love you mom!
