Ollie May Reckers

1928 - 2021

Ollie May Reckers, 93, passed away peacefully on Friday, Sept. 10, at home with her family by her side. 

She was born March 16, 1928, in Iowa, to Roy M. and Alfreda Neil. She graduated from California State University, San Jose.  

Ollie lived in Maxwell for 71 years with her husband Joseph.   

She was a loving mother of twins. She had a love for teaching and taught for 38 years in the Maxwell School District. She also enjoyed playing the organ at the Maxwell Catholic Church for 65 years. 

Ollie was very involved in the community and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Sodality, Stitch and Chatter, CTA, Retired Teacher Association, Girls State and many others. 

She was very passionate about saving the school music program, library, and the town pool. 

Ollie is preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph Reckers, who welcomed her with open arms. 

Ollie is survived by her daughters Kathleen “Kate” Ann Cook and Patricia “Tish” Ann Nerli (Frank Miller). Grandchildren Cody Cook (Shady), Kyle Cook (Cassie), Brooke Nerli (Darren). Great-grandchildren Oliver, Kayla, Blakely, Caleb, Sofia, and Elliot.

The viewing will be held Tuesday, Sept. 21, from 4-7PM, followed by a rosary at 7 PM at McNary-Moore Funeral Home, 107 5th St., in Colusa. 

Mass will be held Wednesday, Sept.  22, at 10 AM at Maxwell Sacred Heart Church, 45 Elm St., in Maxwell. Burial to follow at the  Maxwell Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held immediately following at Granzella’s Banquet Hall, 457 7th St., in Williams.
