Don Mitchell Manor • 2/4/1927 – 3/7/2024

Don Mitchell Manor, 97, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 7, 2024 in Williams, CA. Born on February 4, 1927 in Williams, to Lewis A. And Mary E. Manor, he was the last surviving child from a family of 4 boys and 2 girls.
Don married Margaret L Amrein Manor in 1949 and together they had three children, Denny, Dave and Michele. Don and Margaret lived in Williams their entire lifetime together, minus an 18 month stint in the US Navy in Don’s late teens. Don loved the rice farming community in which he was raised and made it known he would never leave it.
He was a lifelong rice farmer with his 2 brothers, Glen and Jim who preceded him in death. He was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, the Williams Cemetery Board, the Williams Fire Department and the Williams Community Church. He was known throughout the community for his boisterous voice and his love of conversation. In his prime years he loved to mark lambs with his farmer friends, play cards with friends and family, dive for abalone in Ft Bragg, bowl with his bowling buddies and play the occasional golf game in which he was a self admitted hacker.
He was preceded in death by his 3 brothers; Elbert Gassaway, Glen Manor and James Manor and 2 sisters Marge Manor Marengo and Elaine Manor Finch. Don is survived by his wife of 75 years, Margaret, his sons; Denny Manor of Reno NV and David (Kathy) Manor of Williams, his daughter Michele Manor Smith (Dan) of Albany, OR and grandchildren; Dennis Manor, Monique Manor, Cale Manor, Hailey Manor Hopkins, Jake Smith, Logan Smith, Brianna Smith MacMillan, Julia Smith and 10 great grandchildren.
Words cannot express our gratitude to Melissa Wilkerson, Jill Epperson, and Amanda Manor for your kind, patient, and loving care for the last 2 years. You were all a blessing to he and his family.
A graveside service will be held for Don at The Williams Cemetery on Saturday, March 30 at 11am. Chapel of the Twin Cities is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Williams Fire Department, Williams Museum, or the Williams Community Church.
