Nearly 50 aspiring football players, between the ages of 5 and 14, turned out July 13-14 for a two-day youth camp, put on by the Colusa RedHawk football team.
Organized by Colusa head coach Mikey Badaluco along with his staff, and led mostly by the RedHawk players, the event was a resounding success, just as he’d hoped.
“It was a blast,” Badaluco said. ‘We wanted to teach kids skills and fundamentals. We were also trying to provide an opportunity for kids who have never played before and wanted to give football a try, some confidence as well.”
Timing was perfect, given that the Junior RedHawk youth football program started practice this week. ■
