Three RedHawks earn All-State baseball honors

On the heels of their record setting 33-1 season, it comes as no surprise that three RedHawk baseball players – Ethan Lay, Luke Kalfsbeek, and Emanuel Frias – were recognized for their accomplishments this season by being named to the 40th CalHi Sports’ Small School All-State Team.

Lay, after completing his remarkable senior season, was one of seven pitchers named to the first team.

Just a sophomore, Kalfsbeek earned first team honors, joining five others in the Multi-Purpose category, which includes those who both hit and pitch.

Rounding out the Colusa contingent was senior Emanuel Frias, who got a second team nod.

The three RedHawks, along with four others representing Marysville, Sutter, Gridley, and Durham, were the only other small school selections from the Northern Section. ■
