Three win week for Pierce volleyball 

While the Lady Bears came away with three wins last week over Willows, Hamilton City, and Winters, none was bigger than the five set come-from-behind victory over the Honkers on Sept. 14.

Over the years, the Bears and Honkers have had some epic battles and last Tuesday night was no exception, with Pierce emerging with the 12-25, 25-22, 22-25, 25-19, 15-13 win.

Pierce got strong play from Bethany Regnani and Laura Rivera, who finished the match with six kills each, while also correspondingly making 12 and 14 digs.

In the back row, Macey Myers recorded a team-high 19 digs and 25 service receptions, while Jocelyn Medina pitched in with 12 digs and 14 receptions.

Building on the momentum they gained against Willows, Pierce swept Hamilton City the following evening by scores of 25-8, 25-19, 25-20.

Jayilana Valencia put up solid numbers, tallying nine kills, three blocks, and eight aces.

Myers made 12 digs and Jamie Figueroa handed out 13 assists.

Rounding out the week, the Bears downed Winters 21-25, 25-22, 25-15, 25-13.

Medina turned in a double-double with a team-high 13 kills and 11 digs and Cindy Corona notched 11 kills to lead Pierce who also got a noteworthy performance from Figueroa with 22 assists, 12 digs and six aces.

Myers was again busy in the back row, making 15 digs and 30 service receptions.

Pierce (7-12, 3-1) was in Durham on Tuesday night to start the week and has a rivalry match at home against Colusa tonight.
