Eagles soar in Princeton

Princeton’s eight-man football team claimed its second preseason win after defeating visiting Hayfork 30-18 last Friday night.

Junior quarterback Jose Hernandez led the Eagles’ attack, carrying 25 times for 193 yards, in addition to throwing for 105 yards and three touchdowns.

Hernandez connected with fellow junior Alex Medina for 85 of the Eagles total passing yards, two of which were scoring plays of 35 and 10 yards.

Another junior, running back Alessandro Sullivan, caught a 20-yard touchdown pass from Hernandez.

Rounding out the scoring was senior running back Cris Winn, who ran in a score of his own and made good on a two-point conversion as well.

Defensively, Sullivan made a team-high nine tackles, while Hernandez, Winn, and Jack Sierra tallied eight apiece.

Winn also intercepted a pass that he returned 20 yards for the Eagles, who are now 2-0 on the year.

This week Princeton commences California-Division II 8-man League play when it heads to Chico to take on Westwood. â–
