Pierce girls dominate the competition

Pierce freshman Jaslene Condrey takes a shot in a game last month. Condrey had nine points in the Bears’ win over Esparto

Returning to the court after winter break, the Bears took no prisoners as they won three straight in convincing fashion.

In their first game back on December 29, Pierce held winless Esparto to a single first quarter basket in a non-conference affair that ended in a 66-2 rout.

Nine players broke into the scoring column, led by Jocelyn Medina’s triple-double that included 19 points, 17 rebounds, and 12 assists.

Kallie Stassi finished with 10 points, and Jaslene Condrey pitched in with nine.

Pierce then followed up with two Sacramento Valley League victories, when it thrashed Willows 70-20 on Jan. 3 before easily handling Winters 58-33 on Jan. 6.

Statistics from the two contests were not available by the Pioneer Review print deadline.

Now, 12-2 overall and 2-0 in the SVL, the Bears welcomed Paradise to town on Monday, were in Durham on Wednesday, and will travel to Trowbridge to take on East Nicolaus on Friday.
