Cross country runners from Colusa and Maxwell made the trip to Cottonwood last Friday to compete in the West Valley Coed Invitational, a preview race for the Northern Section Championships.
In the 72-person three-mile varsity boys’ race, three RedHawks crossed the line mid-pack, including Kevin Sarabia (19:46), Cesar Cruz (19:55) and Jesse Medina (20:27).
Maxwell’s Walter Avery had the best finish of the day, placing eighth in the 2.2-mile JV boys division, with a time of 14:11, while Colusa’s Leo Tapia (15:40) made the top 25.
The RedHawks’ varsity girls team, comprised of Lupita Perez, Naomi-Munoz-Silva, Lissandra Fuerte, Monserrat Orozco, and Madison Reister, was second to Red Bluff.
All county teams were scheduled to resume Mid-Valley League competition Wednesday, Oct. 13, in a meet hosted by Hamilton City.■
