Colusa volleyball continues to roll

After sweeping opponents Winters and Middletown respectively last week at home, the Colusa RedHawks find themselves with a 17-2 record and on an eight match win streak.

Opening Sacramento Valley League play against the Warriors on Sept. 7, the RedHawks took care of business with a 25-7, 25-10, 25-13 win, behind 13 kills from Reese Roper.

Setter Abby Myers dished out 24 assists while Leah Ferrara and Carly Simmons recorded five kills apiece.

Colusa then followed up by making short work of the Mustangs in a non-conference match last Wednesday by scores of 25-14, 25-14, 25-11.

Roper again led the attack, registering eight kills, while Myers tallied six kills in addition to handing out 22 assists.

Simmons pitched in with six kills and Jasmine Bernardo served four aces.

Defensively, libero Anahi Guzman made 10 digs.

The RedHawks match with Live Oak on Sept. 9 was canceled, but they were set to continue SVL play this week as they hosted Paradise on Tuesday and welcome East Nicolaus tonight.
