Life is good: Be kind

Shingles flew off our roof, rain seeped into the basement, and there is a flat tire on our truck.

It’s been a week of challenge. New plants just planted have been wind beaten.

Still, amid the challenge that comes with living in North Dakota, there is joy.

Repeatedly this week, Tom (a Southern California boy) told me he wouldn’t want to live anywhere else. As many obstacles as he faced, he said he wouldn’t trade it.

The days when grandkids can just come for a visit is the blessing.

Vaughn, Kohen, and Lea each came to visit this week. There’s the joy.

Our world these days is not without struggle for any of us. Prices of necessity are soaring.

A trip to the grocery store this week found short supply, doubled prices, disgruntled workers, and shoppers with looks of dismay or even tears in their eyes.

Meanwhile, our mishaps from weather seem small in comparison to what so many people are dealing with these days.

There is no right answer of what to do, except one: be kind to one another; lend a hand when you can.

A neighbor came over and cleaned out our gutters and drain pipes. There is a great roofing guy in Beach so that’s in the works. The bonus was our lawn guy Bryson, who is ever faithful in mowing the grass.

So, the blown down tree limbs are removed, the lawn is mowed, and other debris from the wind is collected.

It might be an occasional weather challenge to live in North Dakota, but the good outweighs the bad.

Folks care about each other.

Life can always be good today.■
