Letters to the Editor (May 12, 2022)

Dear Editor,
I’d like to thank you and your staff at the Colusa County Pioneer Review for your dedication to the community in providing coverage for so many events, sports, and the other content found in your publication. I know yours is the preferred publication in our county, thus my letter. I look forward to your Candidate’s Forum edition so that I may address some information provided in a recent article that synopsized replies to questions during Candidate’s Night. As intended, the report has generated much conversation. There has been a request for clarification on a response credited to me regarding construction of Sites Reservoir. I will clarify here that I do not think the state should control our water management. In your Candidate’s Forum, I will further support my staunch view on this to overcome any conjecture. I do hope everyone checks out that edition and votes!

Dear Editor:
Valente Bailey and Jack Cunningham, in their “Letters to the Editor” (May 5, 2022 Edition), shined the spot-light on a significant problem Colusa has. After 3+ years of living in Colusa, we are planning on moving to a more American way of life. Barbie and I moved here from Arizona to be nearer our Grandkids in the Bay Area. Politics (morals) appeared to be better here in the Colusa area than the liberal Bay Area. We chose to be a little further away from the kids to be in a Conservative environment. Colusa has now gone Liberal.
First Strike: This paper reports (in the Arrest Log) multiple cases of alcohol/DRUG use arrests. This has always surprised me, being such a small community. The city council decision on Cannabis sales in Colusa will only exacerbate the problem.
Second Strike: The local “Nextdoor” website chastised and banned me from their forum. Reason: I reported a desecration of our American Flag where a landscaper threw my flag on the ground and left it there. I was shot down (helicopter pilot) more than once in Vietnam, serving that Flag. Locals have probably seen the dozens of Flags I fly at various times of the year. The Fourth of July has over 50 of them.
Third Strike: Colusa is now supporting DRUGS. Cannabis is welcomed in Colusa. I’m sorry, but there’s not room for us to live here any longer. You PotHeads, money mongers, and liberals can live as you wish. We will NOT be part of it.
Forget Jefferson! You no longer qualify.
We are going to miss the many wonderful people we have gotten to know here! Too bad you didn’t manage to put better people in charge.
Walt Ringler
