Saturday, Oct. 21

Maxwell Zombie Fun Run – Want to run scared? Maxwell Park and Recreation District Auxiliary will host the 2023 Zombie Fun Run at the Maxwell Elementary School, 146 North St. on Saturday, Oct. 21. Pancake Breakfast will be served from 7:30 am to 10:30 am; $6 for ages 4 and up. Registration for the run starts at 8 am. Run, jog, or run a 1-mile or 5k through zombie infested, post-apocalyptic Maxwell at 9 am. Adults $15; Youth $10 for ages 7-17. Sacramento Valley Museum Comedy Show – Four short comedy stitches by local performers will highlight the Sacramento Valley Museum Comedy Show on Saturday, Oct. 21. Cocktails 5 pm; Tri-Tip Dinner 6 pm. Tickets are $50 per person, ages 21 and up. Play, Silent Auction to follow. The museum is located at 1491 E St., Williams. Countywide Caregivers Support Group  – Caregivers of individual with Dementia/Alzheimer/Parkinson’s Disease are invited to the monthly meeting of the Countywide Caregivers Support Group. The meeting will be held 10-11:30 am on Sept. 27, at the Colusa First Presbyterian Church, corner of 4th and Jay streets. Come as you are. No prior registration is needed. The meeting provides a confidential and safe place to learn about caregiving tips; sharing memories; walking the same path together; finding compassion and humor; gaining information on how to care for yourself; and understanding symptoms and more.

Friday, Oct. 27

Annual Fall Rummage Sale  – The Arbuckle United Methodist Church will open its annual Fall Rummage Sale from 4 pm to 6 pm on Friday, Oct. 27. Proceeds from the sale will support the Church’s missions and ministries. The Methodist Church is located at 600 Pendleton Way (9th and Pendleton), Arbuckle.

Saturday, Oct. 28

Proceeds from the sale will support the Church’s missions and ministries. The Methodist Church is located at 600 Pendleton Way (9th and Pendleton), Arbuckle.

Puptoberfest – Puptoberfest, a celebration of dogs, will be held 11 am to 1 pm on Saturday, Oct. 28, at Veteran’s Memorial Park, 10th and Market St., Colusa. The event benefits the Friends of the Colusa County Animal Shelter (FOCCAS), which provides support for the animal shelter and its furry residents not otherwise provided by the county. This event for people and pets will include puppuccinos, lawn games, a book giveaway, kids crafts, a hotdog lunch, and the crowd favorite: a dog costume contest. Family Day at Arts Council – The Colusa County Arts Council will be open 4 pm to 6 pm on Saturday, Oct. 28, to host a family day in conjunction with the Stagehands Scarecrow Contest. Trunk or Treat – The Colusa County Fairgrounds and Colusa County Chamber of Commerce invite local businesses or members of the community to join the fun and decorate the truck of your car, truck, boat, trailer, or tractor and come on out for a spooktacular Trunk or Treat event from noon to 2 pm on Saturday, Oct. 28. Don’t forget to bring candy for the kids. You can reserve a spot by calling (530) 458-2641 or just show up. Costumes encouraged. The fairgrounds are located at 1303 10th St., Colusa.

Downtown Arbuckle Car Show – The annual Downtown Arbuckle Car Show will be held from 10 am to 2 pm on Sunday, Oct. 29, in Downtown Arbuckle. The event includes hundreds of unique, antique, vintage, and classic cars and trucks, vendor fair, Halloween costume parade, and a tri-tip barbecue lunch. Tuesday, Oct. 31

Lifelong Readers Book Club – The Colusa County Free Library’s Lifelong Readers Book Club will discuss “The Paris Library” by Janet Skeslien Charles, from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm on Oct. 31, at the Colusa branch, 738 Market St., Colusa. This novel is based on the true story of the heroic librarians at the American Library in Paris during World War II. Print and audio books can be checked out at the library.

Trick or Treat Meet & Greet – Bright Vista Youth Center will host a Trick or Treat Meet & Greet with spooktacular games, prizes, and treats from 4 pm to 6 pm, on Tuesday, Oct. 31, 304 5th Steet, Colusa. Stonyford Truck or Treat – Dress up, set up and decorate a trunk, or come down to the Stonyford Community Hall at 6 pm on Halloween, Tuesday, Oct. 31 to play games and get candy. Fun for everyone.

Friday, Nov. 3

Salmon Bend Winter Show – Salmon Bend Art Studios is hosting the 4th annual Winter Show in November, featuring artwork by Gabe Babcock, Roberta Monte James, and LK James. The artists will host a reception from 5:30 pm to 7 pm on Friday Nov. 3, and two weekends of gallery hours from noon to 4 pm, Nov. 4-5 and Nov. 11-12. Saturday, Nov. 4

Grimes Ladies Aid Dinner and Bazaar – The Grimes Ladies Aid Society will hold its annual dinner and bazaar beginning at 5 pm on Saturday, Nov. 4, at Grand Island Elementary School, 551 W Leven St., Grimes. The Society will be serving its delicious turkey and ham dinner with all the trimmings. Donations are $16 for adults; $7 for children ages 5-10. Children under age 5 are free. Bazaar booths will also open at 5 pm. Later that evening, some lucky person will be awarded a beautiful handmade quilt. The public is invited to a night of great food, fun, and fellowship.

Saturday, Nov. 11

OLL Pheasant Festival – Our Lady of Lourdes will hold its annual Pheasant Festival from 5 pm to 10 pm on Saturday, Nov. 11, at St. Bernadette’s Hall, 745 Ware Ave., Colusa. Sunday, Dec. 3

The 25th annual Chocolate Festival – Will be held from noon to 3 pm on Sunday, Dec. 3, at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 642 5th St., Colusa. The event includes five samples of chocolate, silent action, and an opportunity to hear music on the only working pipe organ in Colusa County. Limited tickets for $20 donation are available by calling 458-2470. Fresh Christmas Wreaths will be for sale.
