Eagles ready for playoffs

Princeton’s Alex Medina rebounds the ball in a game earlier this month. Medina had 27 points and 22 rebounds in the Eagles’ win over Elk Creek

After finishing the regular season with wins on three consecutive nights, the Princeton Eagles (14-6, 8-4) will enter the Northern Section CIF Division VII playoffs as the No. 2 seed.

Princeton led off last Monday night with a 66-17 romp over visiting Westwood, holding the Lumberjacks to a season low point total with some aggressive defensive play.

Pacing the Eagles on offense was Junior Andrade who tossed in 22 points, while Corwyn Roberson, back in action after suffering an injury two weeks ago, finished with 17 points.

Having a breakout performance against Westwood was sophomore Chris Roberson, who pulled down 17 boards and made six steals, both career highs.

Playing the following evening at home again, Princeton made short work of Elk Creek, as they won by a score of 70-32 to give Coach Jordan Dillard his 30th victory at the helm of the Eagles.

Alex Medina, in one of the best performances of his career, had a monster double-double that included 27 points and 22 rebounds.

Also getting into the act against the Elks was Corwyn Roberson, who had 11 points and eight rebounds, while Andrade and Tito Reynoso each finished with 11 points as well.

In its final Pioneer League game of the season, Princeton went on the road and edged Paradise Adventist Academy 48-42, avenging a loss to the Cougars it suffered at home on Jan. 31.

This time, Andrade led the way with 26 points, five steals, and four blocks. Corwyn Roberson finished with nine points and nine rebounds, and Medina pitched in with eight points and six rebounds.

Tonight, the Eagles face the winner between No. 7 Maxwell and No. 10 Hayfork in Princeton at 7 PM. â–
