Colusa Softball Ends Regular Season on a Hot Streak

The RedHawk softball team had a lot to smile about last week after outscoring its opponents 40-6 over four games.

COLUSA, CA (MPG) – Winners of four straight last week, the RedHawks are emerging as one of the favorites with the Northern Section CIF Division IV playoffs right around the corner.

Colusa kicked off last week on May 4 with a 6-2 non-conference victory over visiting Woodland Christian, a team from the Sac-Joaquin Section,

Bella Romero went the distance in the circle scattering seven hits and striking out four, while at the plate, Braelyn Santana went 2 for 3 with a triple, Marlie Berry also finished 2 for 3 and Natalee Stegall doubled.

Back at it the following day, the RedHawks again proved to be ungracious hosts as they downed Pierce 11-1 behind a strong performance from Braelyn Santana in the circle, where she proceeded to fan seven Bear batters.

Peyton Miller ended the day 2 for 4 with a pair of doubles, Romero drove in three runs while Stegall and Maci Garofalo each knocked in a pair of runs.

After a day off, the RedHawks made the trip to Paradise where they topped the Bobcats 10-3 behind another strong effort from Romero, who in addition to tossing a complete game in the circle, delivered two hits including a double and two RBI at the plate.

There was also plenty of support from her fellow RedHawk hitters as Miller went 3 for 5, Eli Quintana tripled as part of her two-hit day, Zaylah Ramirez also picked up a pair of knocks, while Santana homered for the second time this season.

Rounding out the busy week, Colusa headed to Arbuckle where it completed the series sweep of Pierce with a 13-0 shutout victory.

Miller stayed hot going 3 for 4 with a double and three RBI, Cindel Oliver was 2 for 3, Ramirez tripled and Caeden Agnew doubled as the RedHawks pounded out 11 hits and capitalized on four errors committed by the Bears.

Romero picked up her third win in five days, striking out four in the run-rule shortened affair.

Colusa (16-11-1, 10-2) learned its playoff fate on Wednesday after the section seeding meeting.
