COLUSA, CA (MPG) – Colusa continued to mow down its preseason opponents having shutout Vacaville Christian and River Valley on subsequent nights at home last week.
With the two victories, the RedHawks not only extended their win streak to eight straight, but over that span have not dropped a set since a loss to Sutter on Aug. 25.
Playing VC on Sept. 1, Colusa had a relatively easy go it, securing a 25-18, 25-10, 26-24 triumph.
Peyton Miller registered 16 kills and Abby Coronado notched 13, while Leyla Avera and Cindel Oliver distributed 13 and 11 assists respectively.
Defensively, Marlie Berry made 15 digs and Avera pitched in with 10.
Entertaining RV the following evening, the RedHawks cruised to a 25-23, 25-8, 25-18 win.
Coronado had a team-high 10 kills, giving her 180 on the season thus far, while Kendall Marengo and Lauren Gomez tallied eight apiece.
In facilitating the offense, Oliver handed out 21 assists with Avera accounting for 11.
While in the back row, Berry logged another 15 digs and Miller made 12.
Currently ranked No. 6 in the Northern Section, Colusa (14-4) takes a bit of a breather before commencing with league play on Sept. 8 at home against Willows.
