Skeet Shooter Smoke Competition

Traveling Circus news release

COLUSA, CA (MPG) – The Traveling Circus Skeet Team members Raegan Parisio and Max Reading returned to the Stockton Trap and Skeet Club on Sept. 9 to compete in Event No. 2 Skeet Doubles Only Tournament.

Skeet Doubles is a seven-station event in which the shooter is required to shoot two clay skeet targets thrown simultaneously; one target flies left to right and the second target flies right to left. “Skeet Doubles requires the shooter to “smoke” each target in precise areas of the Skeet field,” said Coach Bob Moffei. “The term ‘smoke’ refers to breaking a clay target which is 3/4″ x 1″ and thrown approximately 44 mph.

Shooters compete in six different classifications based on skill level. The different classifications are AAA, AA, A, B, C, and D. Class AAA is the highest skill level. At this tournament the highest classified shooters attending were AA.

“Event No. 2 Skeet Doubles proved to be a very competitive competition to determine which shooters would earn the coveted titles,” Moffei said.

Outstanding shooting by Daniel Bocks earned him the title of High Over All, smoking 99/100 targets. Closely challenging Daniel Bocks for the title was Nick Ballentine with a Runner Up Champion score of 98/100. Robert Ennis proved his sharp shooting skills, smoking 97/100 targets for Runner Up Champion 2nd. Raegan Parisio garnished another important title earning Runner Up Champion 3rd, shooting 96/100.

Raegan Parisio shooting in her first Skeet Doubles tournament started out slow, breaking 46/50 of her targets but soon gathered momentum, smoking 50/50 of her last targets.

Hotly challenging Nick Ballentines Class AA 98 score, Raegan secured Class AA 2nd with a 96/100. Raegan also walked away with additional titles, taking the Doubles Junior Champion title and the Doubles Lady Champion title over Doubles Lady Runner Champion Elizbeth Mena.

Traveling Circus Skeet teammate Max Reading, also shooting in his first Skeet Doubles tournament earned the title of Sub Junior Champion, shooting a very good 90/100. Reading shoots with a very relaxed manner and demonstrates that he has more ability to show his fellow Skeet competitors.

“It needs to be noted as I, parents Margret and Mike Parisio, and Nick Reading watched Raegan and Max shoot, it became extremely aware to us that the older gentlemen shooting with them were encouraging and congratulating them with every effort,” Moffei said. “Sorry that I can’t identify them. That was an excellent demonstration of sportsmanship, thank you guy!

Skeet Hall of Famers Brad Young and Bill Burke sponsored the Saturday Night Taco Truck and beverages. Brad Young held the shooter’s calcutta later in the evening while attendees sat in the courtyard enjoying the evening.
