
ARBUCKLE, CA (MPG) – While the Bears went .500 for the week, they put on display the potential to be a contender in both the regular and post season.
In the 23-25, 18-25, 19-25 home loss to Sutter, Hailey Regnani finished with five kills to lead the attack, with Jamie Figueroa distributing 10 assists.
For the defense, Macey Myers recorded 10 digs and 23 service receptions, while Jocelyn Ramos pitched in with 16 receptions.
On the road in Woodland, Pierce outlasted the Wolves 25-19, 20-25, 18-25, 25-23, 16-14.
Regnani had a nice all-around game with 12 kills and 10 digs, as did Figueroa who dished out 21 assists and made 16 digs, while Ysabel Charter tallied a season high eight kills in the win. Myers was again a consistent presence in the back row with 27 digs and 28 receptions, as was Ramos who ended the match with 19 digs and 16 service receptions.
Also making an important contribution to the defense was Gabby Sandoval with 10 digs and 19 service receptions.
At Sutter’s Battle of the Buttes Tournament last Saturday, the Bears went 2-1 in pool play sandwiching wins over Woodland Christian (25-15, 25-19) and Fall River (25-18, 25-20) around a loss to Chico (17-25, 6-25), but fell to Bear River 14-25, 14-25 in first round of the gold bracket championship.
Pierce (4-4) had one scheduled match this week when it traveled to Chico on Thursday to take on CORE Butte.
