Colusa boys tops at Live Oak’s Pritchard Tournament

The Colusa RedHawks won the championship at the 50th Annual Ron Pritchard Tournament in Live Oak that ran from December 8-10.

With the football season now over for Colusa, its basketball squad is at full strength and served notice that it is a force to be reckoned with after it swept the competition at the 50th Annual Ron Pritchard Varsity Tournament in Live Oak last week.

In the opener on Dec. 8, the RedHawks blew past Lindhurst by a score of 70-20, led by All-Tournament selection Seth Kalisuch, who tossed in a game high 21 points.

Isaiah Travis recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds, as did Leo Bedolla, who finished with 10 points and 10 boards.

Also pitching in the win over the Blazers was Landon Humphrey with 13 points.

Colusa followed up the next evening with a 72-64 victory over Orland, behind another double-double by Bedolla, who this time logged 19 points and 17 rebounds.

Again, there was plenty of help for the high-flying RedHawks, who averaged nearly 72 points per game in the tournament, as Landon Humphrey poured in 22 points, Kalisuch finished with 15, and Peyton Humphrey added 10 more to the total.

In the finale, Colusa found itself down 35-46 at halftime, but outscored Las Plumas 37-8 in the fourth quarter to down the Thunderbirds 72-54.

Bedolla, who posted his third double-double in as many days with 12 points and 23 boards, looked to be unstoppable in the paint and, as a result, was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.

Landon Humphrey kept a hot hand, dropping 34 points, to also earn an All-Tournament nod, and Travis registered a second double-double with 10 points and 15 rebounds.

Now 3-4 on the season, the formidable RedHawks were in Sutter on Tuesday and open play in their own Georgia Raczniak Tournament tonight, where they are without question a favorite to win.
