Volleyball Roundup (Sept. 29, 2022)

Pierce 3 – Durham 1 (9/20) – Pierce 0 – Colusa 3 (2/23)

The Bears started off last week with a 20-25, 26-24, 25-23, 25-21 hard fought win over Durham at home, but couldn’t find a way to slow down Colusa in its second match, falling 14-25, 12-25, 15-25.

Against Durham, Kallie Stassi and Hailey Regnani tallied eight and seven kills, respectively, on the attack, then also had a good night at the service line with Stassi recording five aces and Regnani landing eight.

Also, having a big night was Jamie Figueroa, who finished with 16 digs and 15 assists, along with Macey Myers, who made 16 digs and 27 service receptions.

No statistics from the loss to the RedHawks were available.

Currently sitting fourth in the Sacramento Valley League, the Bears (7-15, 3-3) are at home this week, having welcomed Live Oak to town on Tuesday ahead of their match up with Paradise tonight.

Colusa 1 – Willows 3 (9/20) – Colusa 3 – Pierce 0 (9/23)

After a disappointing 21-25, 13-25, 26-24, 18-25 loss at the hands of Willows on Sept. 20, the RedHawks took out their frustration on Pierce as they swept their county rival 25-14, 25-12, 25-15.

Statistics from the match were not provided.

However, against the Bears, Karsyn Gwinnup had her swing going, striking for a game high 11 kills, in addition to dispensing 15 assists.

Also helping the cause was Addison Lay, with eight kills and five assists., and Elle Faris, who tallied eight kills and made seven digs, as well.

Colusa hits the road this week, having played in Durham on Tuesday night and is in Winters this evening.
