By the time this column is published, we should be home in North Dakota.
Tonight, as I write, we have just attended the Dolly Parton Stampede dinner show in Branson, Mo. It was pretty good, but honestly it’s got nothing on the Medora Musical and Pitchfork Fondue in North Dakota.
In the last few days, we have spent time with family in Arkansas. We also spent two days in Memphis, one of our favorite stops. We toured Sun Records, where so many greats got their start. We went to BB King’s Blues Cafe. We sat in that place of Blues History, sipped some fruity drinks, and listened to a great Blues trio. It was like something out of a movie.
But now we’re ready to go home. We’ve had many adventures but now we’re tired. I think we’ve cured our wanderlust for a while.
Come winter – and we’re snowbound – we might long to hit the road. But for now, I just want to get out of the crazy traffic and back to the wide open spaces of the prairie.
The southern states are beautiful and filled with tons of trees. But with that beauty came rain and humidity. I just can’t take the humidity. Give me snow!
We’re headed home and life is good today.■
