˜Jacket volleyball off to perfect start

Williams Highs Alexa Barrera gets a kill during the Yellowjackets 3-0 win over Live Oak on Aug. 26.

Despite having not played at all last season, the Williams Yellowjacket volleyball team is off to one of its best starts in program history, as they pushed their record to 4-0 with a sweep of visiting Live Oak last Thursday night.

In downing the Lions by scores of 25-11, 25-17, 25-19, the ˜Jackets came out strong with the serve, which has been characteristic of their success so far this season.

Apart from a few lapses, Williams played well together as a unit and handled the Lions with relative ease.

Although statistics were not available, Brianna Jamie, Ashley Garcia, and Gabby Lopez were integral in the straight set sweep, as each had extended stretches of success at the serving line.

Williams put its unbeaten streak on the line this week, having played in Los Molinos on August 31 and today, when they travel to Winters. –
