For the second week in a row the Panthers earned a split after registering an 11-2 win at home over Upper Lake on Monday, May 17, before stumbling in Colusa against the RedHawks on Thursday, May 20 by a score of 18-8.

Against the visiting Cougars, Maxwell put crooked numbers on the board in each of the first four innings and cruised to victory behind a big day from Laynee Haywood who went 3 for 4 with a double and two RBI.

Paige Vierra recorded her twelfth multiple hit game of the season finishing with a double and two RBI as part of a 2 for 3 performance at the plate.

Also chipping in was Jocelyn Lazarus who drove in four runs, collected two hits including a double then went the distance in the circle conceding three hits and no earned runs while striking out four.

In Colusa, despite garnering 12 hits, the Panthers came up short as the RedHawks scored early and often in the run-rule shortened contest.

Morgan Dennis was Maxwells top hitter going 3 for 4 with an RBI, while Madi Pearson, Shelby Dunlap and Bailee Haywood each had two hits.

Yet it was the power of the RedHawks that was the story, starting with Makalya Frias and Alexis Price who each had a home run and a double.

Frias was a perfect 3 for 3 and knocked in a pair of runs while Price accounted for four RBI on two hits.

Also having a three hit day was Abby Myers who doubled for the ninth time this season and had four RBI, along with Abby Wolf who went 2 for 5.

Avery Lay and Reese Roper combined for the win in the circle allowing just one earned run.

Maxwell (10-7) was in Hamilton City to take on the Braves on Monday, and then closed out the season at home against Pierce on Wednesday.

Colusa (11-4) was scheduled to host Live Oak on Monday before traveling to Trowbridge to take on powerhouse East Nicolaus in a double header on Tuesday and then heading to Orland today.
