Come Park With Me

By Thomas Roach

It is good to be back.

I want to thank Lloyd Green. You are a pioneer. Thank you for taking the time to do it right.

The momentum of our county is exceedingly apparent. Every group has got it going so well. There are fabulous events happening every week in the County. Each is filled with leaders and volunteers ensuring that everything is run to perfection.

The Art influence that has blossomed is appreciated in every town. We are in the midst of an artistic revolution for the County. We had four recipients of the California Creative Corps grant in Colusa County. I look forward to experiencing the grant recipients’ contributions to our community.

It is time to pay it forward with shade and beauty for our future generations. The time to plant trees is upon us.

The Rotary Club is back with a new season of tree planting in the City of Colusa. If you would like to have a tree planted in your mow strip or front yard, applications will be available Sept. 1 at Colusa City Hall.

Numerous trees are available to choose from. Assistance in tree selection and placement is available from the Parks, Recreation and Tree Commission. The planting will happen in November.

If you would like to sponsor a tree to be planted on public property in memoriam or donate to the planting of trees in the city, the Rotary Cub would love to hear from you.

I also want to commend the Recreation Department of Colusa for putting on an excellent summer of activities. All ages participated in classes and events throughout the summer.

The City Pool was a hit. We had multiple sponsors of free swim days throughout the season that were enjoyed by all.

A salute to all the 5 am swimmers getting their laps in. A double salute to all the first-time swimmers who learned to swim this year.

Thank you to all that make everything so wonderful. It is appreciated. We are on to something, and it is fun.

The Parks, Recreation and Tree commission appreciates the input from everyone in the community. Please reach out with suggestions to better the enjoyment of our parks. Visit cityofcolusa.com.
