Today we had brunch at a place called The Daily News Cafe. It seemed aptly named for an old newspaper hack to dine. It turned out to be a good choice. I had delicious seafood crepes with hollandaise sauce and fresh fruit on the side. We got to sit outside on a beautiful warm morning. Rocky was allowed to join us.
We are really enjoying January in Southern California. But truth be told, I’m beginning to miss home; little house on the prairie and all of my babies, big and small. Not so much the snow, ice and cold, though.
Tomorrow, Tom will go out on a charter fishing boat. It’s been a lot of years since he’s done that here as a kid.
We’ve been walking a lot. Yesterday, we walked about 2 miles down to the beach. Again, it was a beautiful day.
Earlier in the week, we had wonderful Italian food. The restaurant owner grew up in Italy. As a boy, he knew Andrea Bocelli and Pavarotti. They are two of my favorites, so I found it very exciting to meet someone who actually knew them.
It’s a wonderful, small world we live in.
Life is good today. ■
