Life is good… Reminders

Sometimes it takes a phone call or a chance meeting to remind us of events, things, and people that have helped to mold our lives.

Our lives are gifts and we should treasure every aspect of them.

Theres always the good, the bad, and the ugly – but each has a lesson we need to learn.

This week, I had a phone call from a dear friend. As she talked about her life, I realized I had played a part in helping her along the way.

Later in the week, a conversation with the son of the man that helped me form my future, reminded me of the help I needed back in the day. I havent forgotten my friend. The person who gave me the encouragement to find my way and the path I should walk.

I didnt know then that what he encouraged me to do would be a means of survival for me in the coming years.

We never know how what we say may help or hurt another person.  We should be careful what we say.

Im now in the last chapter of my life. Im not saying Im dying, just that I have lived. You come to a point in your life when you begin to ponder what you have done, left undone, or hope to still do.

My folks looked forward to retirement so that they could travel. They waited too long and they never got to go many places before health issues began to rule their lives.

Tom and I have worked hard and now are enjoying the benefits of retirement. I began working at age 13 and retired at 69. I feel like I earned my way.

Today, there is a dilemma of laziness going on around us. You may have noticed lack of service and lack of supplies. Apparently, employers are struggling to find people who want to work. Theres something wrong with that whole mess.

In the early years, my late husband David and I struggled financially. Looking back, I dont recall ever getting assistance. Instead, we worked to solve the problem.

Theres plenty of opportunity to work now. This can be a very good time for anyone who makes the effort.

Im old and tired, but Im proud to have earned my way. Im proud to have come from the working class.

Our lives are what we make them. Hard work, thankfulness, and faith will make us the best we can be.

Life is good today. –
