PUBLIC NOTICE OF ELECTION TO BE HELD IN THE COUNTY OF COLUSA AND NOTICE OF DEADLINES FOR FILING PRIMARY AND REBUTTAL ARGUMENTS
FOR OR AGAINST
CITY OF COLUSA MEASURE B

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT the following measure will be voted upon by the qualified electors of the City of Colusa, at the election to be held and consolidated with the Statewide Election, on Tuesday, November 8, 2022. The measure is subject to approval by two-thirds majority vote of the electorate pursuant to Article XIIIC, Section 2 of the California Constitution. The City of Colusa City Council  duly adopted Resolution 22-36 at a public meeting on June 21, 2022, and ordered the election described in the notice. 

MEASURE B

City of Colusa Retail Transaction and Use Tax:

“Shall an Ordinance be adopted authorizing the  City of Colusa to collect a one percent (1.0%) sales tax (Transactions and Use Tax) for the purpose of providing police/fire/emergency medical services and improving the City of Colusa’s streets, parks and other infrastructure to expire after four years unless extended by both the voters and the City Council and that all funds will be locally controlled by a Citizens Oversight Committee within the City of Colusa, providing approximately $ 2,000,000 annual.

NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN Thursday, August 11, 2022, 5:00 PM, is hereby fixed as the final date on which Primary Arguments For or Against Measure B must be submitted to the City Clerk’s office for printing and distribution to the voters, pursuant to provisions of the California Elections Code. Primary Arguments For or Against the Measure shall not exceed 250 words in length. 

The City of Colusa City Council or any member or members of the City, or an individual voter who is eligible to vote on the Measure, or bona fide association of citizens, or a combination of these voters and Associations may file a written argument for or against any city measure. No more than five signatures shall appear on any argument submitted. The City Clerk will select an argument for and an argument against said measure to be printed in the County Voter Information Guide and Sample Ballot booklet distributed to each voter at said election. The City Clerk will send a copy of the selected argument in favor of the measure to the authors of the argument against, and copy of the selected argument against to the authors of the argument in favor. The authors may prepare and submit rebuttal argument not exceeding 250 words in length. 

Monday, August 15, 2022 5:00 PM, is hereby fixed as the final date on which Rebuttal Arguments not to exceed 250 words in length must be filed with the City of Colusa City Clerk Printed arguments submitted to voters shall be titled “Argument in Favor of Measure B” or “Argument Against Measure B”, with rebuttals titled with “Rebuttal to Argument in Favor of Measure B” or “Rebuttal to Argument Against Measure B” shall be submitted in writing to the City Clerk’s Office, 425 Webster St., Colusa, CA 95932.

NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN THAT Arguments/Rebuttal filed under the authority of the California Elections Code will be available for public examination in City Hall at 425 Webster Street, for not less than 10 calendar days immediately following the date of the filing deadline.
