SUMMARY OF ORDINANCE
NO. 23-01
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that, at its regular meeting on March 20, 2023, the Board of Directors (“Board”) of the Williams Fire Protection Authority (“Authority”) passed and adopted Ordinance No. 23-01, adopting local amendments to building standards in the 2022 California Fire Code, by the following votes of the Authority Board:
AYES: Dunlap, Gobel, Lewis, Parsons, Turner
NOES: NONE
ABSTAINED: None
ABSENT: None
In Summary, the Ordinance establishes certain local building requirements and standards relating to fire and panic safety, including some amendments to the 2022 California Fire Code and all associated Appendices to the 2022 California Fire Code, that are more stringent than the state standards in order to address the unique conditions in the Authority service area. The local requirements and standards relate to contract-based technical assistance requirements, required operational permits, shipping containers, inspection requests, violations and penalties, Fire Chief authority, electronic monitoring systems, false alarms, pallet storage height and access requirements, water supply, access for fire apparatus, fire control room, fire sprinkler installation and maintenance, emergency and standby power systems, and fire hydrant requirements. The Ordinance was adopted pursuant to Health and Safety Code sections 13861, 13869.7, 17958.5 and 18941.5(b), Part 9 of Title 24 of the California Code of Regulations, and other applicable law.
