Bobbie Jo Seaver • 10/22/1932 – 6/10/2024

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, June 29, at the Colusa County Fairground for Bobbie Jo Seaver who passed away on Monday, June 10, at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born Barbara Joan Allen on October 22, 1932, to Gilbert and Ruth Allen. She was the fourth of five daughters, and they were affectionately known as the Allen Girls. Bobbie Jo and her sisters remained close all their lives and were part of the fabric of Colusa for more than 80 years. She graduated from Colusa High School in 1951, and two days later she married the love of her life, Charles Seaver on June 9, 1951. The couple met while Bobbie Jo worked at the Colusa Theater as an usher.

Together, they had seven children: Walter, Jerry, Jim, Kenny, Sandy, Polly, and Paul, who passed away in infancy. They also raised lovingly as their own, Joe, John, and Sally Erisey. The couple remained happily married until Charles’ death in 2005. During the couple’s one-year engagement, Bobbie Jo was baptized in the Catholic Church where she was actively involved with the Church. She was a member of the Catholic Ladies Relief Society and volunteered numerous hours of service to the Our Lady of Lourdes school. Bobbie Jo was also active in her children’s lives, volunteering for the local Boy Scout Troop #32, Colusa Area Little League, and numerous fundraisers to benefit Colusa schools. She was a huge influence on a generation of Colusa kids, often helping them with a hot meal, a place to stay, a non-judgmental sounding board and giving gentle advice when needed. Bobbie Jo was the Dial-a-Mom to all the kids that needed her help. The Seaver home had an open- door policy to all.

Bobbie Jo was employed at Burchfield Primary School in Colusa for 22 years where she worked in the cafeteria. At her retirement celebration she was given an award stating that she had provided more than 1 million school lunches during her time there. After retiring from the school, she continued to donate countless hours at the local food bank and other services to the community well into her 80s.

Bobbie Jo is survived by her children, sister, Janita Smith; 21 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54-years, Charles; parents; infant son, Paul; son-in-law, Craig Cabral; granddaughter, Emma Seaver; and sisters, Pat Schaad, Janet Staple, and Joyce Godon.
The family would like to extend an invitation to all friends of the family to come and enjoy a Celebration of Life that will be held June 29 th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Festival Hall. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Colusa Alumni Foundation.
