The Rotary Club of Colusa will host its annual Nite at the Races on Saturday, Jan. 8, a fun-filled event that builds community camaraderie and raises money that supports the charitable activities of the club and other local projects and programs.
The event is an exciting evening of video horse racing, a gourmet dinner, open bar, prizes, and a “his and hers” crazy hat contest.
Admission is $150 per couple and includes $40 in play money ($20 each) and great prize winning opportunities.
“We have plenty of tickets left,” said Rotarian Antonio Ortiz. “Make sure you get your tickets and invite your friends. It’s going to be a fun evening.”
The event, previously known as the Duck Dinner, will be held at Festival Hall, Colusa County Fairgrounds, 1303 10th St., in Colusa.
Dinner, however, includes beef and chicken (not duck), wine at the table, and a full bar.
The event is Rotary’s largest fundraiser of the year, although the 2021 dinner was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Since 2015, the Rotary Club of Colusa has contributed over $120,000 to projects in Colusa County and beyond.
In the past, proceeds from Nite at the Races have helped to provide scholarships to Colusa County seniors, memorial benches, dictionaries for elementary students, meals for senior citizens, golf clinics, Old Tyme Christmas, and Fourth of July fireworks. The club also lends financial support to Colusa Golf Team, Colusa Swim Team, Colusa Grad Night, Friends of the Library, and many other local programs and causes.
Night at the Races begins at 4 PM with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres; dinner will be served at 5 PM; video horse races begin at 6 PM.
