Colusa County residents are encouraged to bring in the New Year by celebrating in a way that helps local nonprofits accomplish their missions.
The New Year’s Eve “Pins 4 Paws” at Riverside Lanes on Friday is a benefit for Friends of the Colusa County Animal Shelter.
The event will run from 5-9 PM on Dec. 31, at Riverside Lanes, 420 Main St., Colusa.
Don’t bowl? Just come out for the great food, raffles, games, and prizes and still help FOCCAS’s mission to vaccinate and care for shelter animals, organizers said.
“We thought this would be a great family event for people to do on New Year’s Eve and a way to support the local animal shelter,” said Lynda Silk, of Riverside Lanes.
Bowling at the Pins 4 Paws fundraiser is $30 per person and will include two games, shoes, and dinner (hamburger or Polish dog with choice of fries or tots). Bowlers are welcome to sign up as an individual, as a pair, or as teams of four at Riverside Lanes, (530) 458-8866.
Friday’s bowling event will be held in two sessions, 5 PM and 7 PM. Riverside Lanes will be open until 10 PM. All diners who are not bowling, but come for the festivities, are welcome to order meals off the menu, with a portion of the proceeds also going to FOCCAS.
“It’s a great way to ring in the New Year,” Silk said.
On Jan. 1, why not usher in 2022 with a great breakfast in Grimes, cooked and served by Grand Island Firefighters.
The annual New Year’s breakfast fundraiser includes choice of meat, eggs, pancakes, breakfast burritos, and more. The breakfast will be served from 8-11 AM on Saturday at the Fire Station, 359 Main St., in Grimes.
There is no set price for breakfast, but donations are gladly accepted.
Proceeds from the breakfast go toward the fire district’s scholarship fund, which helps to send Colusa County students to college. ■
