Thomas Newton Charter

09/19/1983 - 08/23/2026

Thomas Newton Charter, 42, of Arbuckle Ca, passed away suddenly on our home ranch with his boots on and amid harvest on Sunday morning, August 23, 2026.

Born on September 19, 1983, in Yuba City, Ca to Thomas Edward Charter and Mary Candice Charter. Tom grew up in Arbuckle, Ca and Maxwell Ca. He spent his childhood on many adventures in the creeks, ponds, and hills of Arbuckle. He loved to ride anything with wheels or hooves. And he loved to explore and hunt. He and his sister were usually together somewhere on the home ranch northwest of town. Or off fishing the Canal with their big brother Jed.

Tom attended Butte College for a few years, later returning home to work on the farm. He spent the last 22 years working in every area of the ranch and most recently found a passion in managing T&P Farms Cattle, and Tyndall Mound Rice Dryer, as well as numerous hats on the farm alongside his sister and brothers. He was an asset to the entire operation and the men he worked with were important to him and loved by him. One of Tom’s recent sources of pride was the beginning of his own herd of cattle, in particular use for his daughter’s 4H projects. The steers his girls showed this year at the Colusa County Fair were all bred by him with the help of his girls.

Tom had a passion for so many things in life: geology, guns, history of any kind, war, equipment, astronomy, reading, podcast, good food, wildlife, farm animals, and the farm.

Tom was known for his intelligence, quick wit, loyal friendship and most of all his kindness.

He had never met a stranger, and his heart was often said to be made of gold. Everything he did, he did with his family in mind. Above all he loved his wife of 14 years and beautiful daughters and was entirely dedicated to their care and protection. One of his greatest sources of pride was his four daughters. His time spent with them was on the farm, hunting, fishing, telling them stories of his life and going on many adventures. Tom truly poured his heart into his family, those who knew him, and was always always willing to help.

Tom is survived by his wife Krystin; his daughters Paisley (13), Kinsey (12), Riley (9), Brynnley (7); sister Sarah; brothers Brad, Jeff, and Wyatt; Mother Candy; stepmother Patricia, Grandpa Cation. He is preceded in death by his Father Tom, Brother Jed, Uncle Jim, Grandma & Grandpa Charter, Aunt Liz, Grandma Cation, Uncle Jon, and Cousin Ryan.

The Rosary will be held September 3, 2026 at McNary Moore Chapel in Colusa Ca at 6pm.

The funeral service will be held on September 4 2026, at 10am at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Arbuckle, Ca. with Graveside to follow at the Arbuckle Catholic Cemetery. The reception will be held at The Charter Barn following the funeral services.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest a donation be made in Tom’s name to the Junior Bears Cheer & Football programs, Arbuckle 4H, or the Colusa County Fair Foundation.
