County Opens Woodstove Replacement Program

COLUSA, CA (MPG) – Colusa County homeowners with older woodstoves may qualify for funding to replace them through the county’s Woodsmoke Reduction Program.

The Colusa County Air Pollution Control District is offering vouchers ranging from $2,500 to $10,000 to replace non-certified woodstoves manufactured before 1988 with newer heating equipment.

The amount available depends on household qualifications, whether the home is in a disadvantaged community and the type of replacement equipment selected.

“Upgrading an uncertified, older woodstove is one of the most effective ways to protect both home air quality and local public health,” Colusa County Air Pollution Control Officer Anastacia Allen said.

Allen said the voucher program can cover up to $10,000 of the replacement cost for qualifying households.

“With voucher assistance ranging up to $10,000 depending on household qualification, this program makes cleaner, safer heating technology accessible and affordable for Colusa County families,” Allen said.

According to the district, replacing older woodstoves can reduce smoke emissions, improve heating efficiency and lower fuel costs.

Residents interested in the program can contact the Colusa County Air Pollution Control District to determine eligibility and request an application. Applications are available by emailing ccair@countyofcolusaca.gov or calling 530-458-0590.
