The U.S. government actively prosecuted and blacklisted socialists, communists and left-wing sympathizers throughout the 1950s and 1960s. This period is commonly known as the Red Scare and the McCarthy era.
Under the Smith Act of 1940, the government prosecuted dozens of Communist Party leaders for allegedly advocating the violent overthrow of the government. Many were sent to prison.
So seeing people publicly advocate for a socialist society changing the Land of the Free, and actually winning elections while saying it, boggles the mind.
A faction of voters seems to see the word “free” and think it is good. In actuality, a socialist lifestyle will, in the end, take, not give. It strips freedoms away while increasing government control.
We just came off a great celebration of America. Time and again, we saw people loving our country and praising those who fought and died for our freedom.
Sadly, there remains a faction of so-called leaders and celebrities in our country who saw it as an opportunity to belittle our nation. Instead of celebrating our nation’s 250th birthday, they chose to run it down.
I watched interviews with American veterans who were more than 100 years old. These men literally fought for us. To ignore their sacrifice is shameful. What’s wrong with people?
To stand for our flag and to be proud to be an American is how I was raised. It is how it should be.
If you don’t love and support our country, it might be time to move on.
How about actually working for the things you want?
Don’t wait for a handout.
Be proud, be respectful and appreciate what we have. If we do that, life will continue to be good today, tomorrow and going forward.
