YUBA CITY CA, (MPG) – The Yuba-Sutter-Colusa United Way is accepting nominations for two annual community awards that recognize outstanding service and leadership throughout Yuba, Sutter and Colusa counties.
The awards will be presented during the organization’s Celebration of Service and Awards Breakfast at 8 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 20.
The Pedro Award honors an individual who has demonstrated a lifetime commitment to helping others without seeking personal gain. Residents of Yuba, Sutter and Colusa counties are eligible for the award.
The award dates back to 1977 and is named after an anonymous donor who sent the United Way a modest contribution with a note that read, “To help others,” signed simply, “Pedro.”
The Nancy Ferreira Leadership Award recognizes an individual or organization that has made a significant contribution to the success of the Yuba-Sutter-Colusa United Way.
The award is named in honor of Nancy Ferreira, the organization’s longtime executive director, whose leadership and dedication benefited residents throughout the three-county region.

Completed nomination forms must be received by noon Wednesday, Aug. 5.
