Duo Set to Lead Maxwell Volleyball

Danielle Wilson and Sydney Franks are set to lead the Maxwell volleyball program this season.

MAXWELL, CA (MPG) – With the start of the 2026 volleyball season nine weeks away, the Maxwell Panthers, like many of the other county team sare gearing up, but first there are some changes in Maxwell that are occurring including a newly refurbished gym and a pair of co-coaches.

Taking the reins this season will be a familiar face in Danielle Wilson along with newcomer Sydney Franks.

Wilson, who coached by committee last year along with Al and Donna Vargas is in her second stint at the helm having previously led the Panthers in the late 1990s and early 2000’s, while it’s the first time for Franks, a 2021 graduate of Bear River High School in Grass Valley who played in Bruins highly regarded program.

Both are excited by what they have seen so far and believe that their team, despite being very young, will still be highly competitive.

Wilson says that her focus is in building the program by ensuring continuity from the junior high level all the way up through the varsity squad, while Franks is looking toward improving the team’s fundamentals and communication.

Thus far both remarked that they have been impressed by the players’ motivation along with their desire to learn and perform well.

Maxwell will open its season on Aug. 15 in Durham, but due to the renovations will not play its first home match until Aug. 25.
