COLUSA COUNTY, CA (MPG) – Both Colusa and Williams continued their preseason tuneups at different events last week with the RedHawks participating at the Las Plumas Invitational in Oroville on Sept. 11, while the Yellowjackets made their way to Nevada Union’s Invitational on Sept. 12.
Running a two-and-a-half-mile course at the Oroville Forebay, Colusa took the top spot in both JV races with Bryan Sarabia (14:45-PB) winning the boys’ division, while Alexia Carmona (20:44-PB) did the same in the girls.
Other RedHawks posting top five finishes included Julian Gil (15:57) in the JV boys contest and Cristal Bruno (20:44-PB) who crossed the line fourth in the varsity girls race.
Meanwhile, in Grass Valley, the ‘Jackets’ Lucia Vidrio-Mederos (16:05) took second in the frosh/soph girls two mile race, while Jeremiah Perez (12:59) was fourth among the frosh/soph boys.
Running in a field of 110 in the varsity boys 5,000 meters, Manny Santillan logged a season’s best 19:23 to finish in the 21st spot.
Up next for Colusa is the Sacramento Valley League Preview in Willows on Sept. 23, while Williams heads to Rocklin on Sept. 19 for the John Ruff Invitational.
