REDDING, CA (MPG) – The RedHawks saw their season come to an end in the second round of the Northern Section Division IV playoffs when they fell 26-24, 14-25, 17-25, 20-25 to the reigning champion U-Prep Panthers on Oct. 26.
No. 2 U-Prep has been a thorn in the RedHawks’ side over the years and last Tuesday night was no exception as despite winning the back-and-forth first set, No. 3 Colusa was not able to hold off the Panthers.
No statistics from the match were available.
To get to the second round however, the RedHawks cruised to an easy 25-21, 25-11, 25-18 win over No. 6 Paradise on Oct 24.
Elle Faris, one of Colusa’s two seniors, led the attack with 12 kills, while Aliah Ramirez pitched in with six.
Facilitating the offense was Addison Lay, who dished out 23 assists.
The RedHawks also served 16 aces in the match led by Abril Guzman with six.
Guzman and Faris each recorded eight digs for the defense.
Despite falling short of the title game, the RedHawks’ future appears to be bright given that they will return 10 players off the current roster.
Colusa finished the season as the third-place team in the Sacramento Valley League and with a 25-12 record overall.
