
A spirited effort by the Yellowjackets fell just short in Arbuckle last Wednesday, when, after a disastrous opening set, they fought back to take the Bears to five before ultimately succumbing 5-25, 21-25, 25-23, 25-18, 12-15 in their final preseason match.
Although the ‘Jackets did not keep back row statistics, they are to be commended for a gritty performance.
In the front row, setter Giselle Navaro facilitated the offense with 20 assists, while Mia Rivera recorded eight kills and made six blocks, and Andrea Rivera chipped in with six kills.
With an 8-12 record on the season, Williams was in Maxwell on Sept. 19 for its Mid-Valley League opener, then made the trip to face Los Molinos on Sept. 21.

In its only match last week, the Panthers downed Paradise in straight sets 25-9, 25-14, 25-23 in its final match before the regular season.
Maxwell, who has lost just one time in eighteen tries so far, did not provide statistics.
Mid-Valley League play began on Tuesday for the Panthers when they hosted Williams in the third meeting between the two squads then traveled to Chico to square off against CORE Butte.H
