Colusa Tennis Splits in First Two Matches

COLUSA, CA (MPG) – Colusa’s girl’s tennis team opened preseason play last week with an 8-1 loss to Gridley before bouncing back nicely to down Corning 6-3.

In Gridley, on Aug. 22, Ashley Perez picked up the RedHawks’ lone win defeating her opponent in straight sets 6-2, 6-2.

Returning home on Aug. 24 to host the Cardinals, Colusa got straight set wins in singles from No. 2 Savannah Rochette (6-0, 6-2), No. 3 Vianey Farias (6-0, 6-0), No. 5 Perez (6-0, 6-1), and No. 6 Melanie Pinon (6-0, 6-0).

On the doubles court, Farias and Joanna Rodriguez won 8-2, while Perez and Adilene Iniguez emerged with the 8-4 victory.

The RedHawks were in Yuba City on Aug. 29 to face River Valley and at home against Orland on Aug. 31. H
