Sports Hall of Fame dinner set for July 8

Colusa County’s Sports Hall of Fame committee will host its annual banquet on July 8 at Granzella’s Banquet Room in Williams.

The event, which serves as the installment ceremony for the five inductees, also honors the year’s top senior athletes and section champion teams, in addition to two special award recipients.

Entering the Hall of Fame in 2023 are Don Friel, Ron Gross, Court King, Lori Dennis Niesen, and Dave Tyler.

Top senior athletes include Colusa’s Leo Bedolla and Karsyn Gwinnup; Maxwell’s Cale Kuska and Jocelyn Lazarus; Jocelyn Medina and Joseph Saavedra, from Pierce; Princeton’s Sophia Deniz and Alessandro Sullivan; along with Trinity Tungasmita and Leo Trujillo, from Williams.

Colusa High’s football and baseball squads as well as Maxwell’s volleyball and softball teams will be recognized for winning their respective setion titles.

Rounding out the program will be special awards presented to Charles Geyer and Sally Pearson.

For those wishing to attend, the festivities start at 6 PM with no host cocktails, followed by dinner at 7 PM. Tickets are $35 per person.■
