Walter Avery recorded a brace last Tuesday in Palo Cedro as the No. 5 Panthers upended No. 4 Redding Christian, after converting all five of their penalty kicks to four for the Lions in the shootout portion of the NSCIF Division III playoff match.
Maxwell (5-4-2) returned to action on Feb. 21 in Winters to take on the No. 1 seeded Warriors, last season’s section runners up.
A win would put the upstart Panthers in the Championship game on Saturday.
Colusa 4 – Durham 0
No. 4 Colusa downed the visiting No. 5 Trojans in shutout fashion last Tuesday afternoon at home behind a brace from Josslyn Garcia.
Mia Valencia and Liz Ayala added a goal apiece for the RedHawks (6-13-2), who traveled to face No. 1 Winters on Tuesday in the semifinal round of the NSCIF Division III playoffs.■
