In a rematch of last year’s Northern Section Division III championship game, the Yellowjackets and Warriors ended their first meeting of this season in a 1-1 draw, although no statistics were made available.
Williams followed up two days later by blitzing the visiting Honkers in a Mid-Valley League contest, led by Kaled Rosales, who finished with a goal and two assists, and Mario Fernandez, who added a goal and an assist.
Also finding the back of the net for the ‘Jackets was Ernie Lemus, Jorge Saavedra, Gerardo Navarro, and Juan Velazquez.
Leo Hernandez and Angel Villanueva each contributed an assist for the Yellowjackets (4-0-3).
Now entering its winter break, Williams is off until Jan. 11 when it travels to Paradise for an MVL match against the Bobcats.

Pierce 5 – Oroville 1 (12/13)
Pierce 1 – Anderson 1 (12/15)
Pierce 0 – Esparto 3 (12/16)
After starting last week with a 5-1 win over visiting Oroville, the Bears made the trip to Anderson where they played the Cubs to a 1-1 draw before falling in Esparto.
Brandon Rodriguez scored Pierce’s lone goal in the match against Anderson, although no other statistics were provided by the Bears (2-7), who return to action on Jan. 10 in Colusa.
Colusa 0 – Hamilton City 1 (12/13)
In its only game last week, Colusa was shutout on the road by Hamilton, a team it had beaten in the first game of the season.
The RedHawks (3-3-2) host Gridley this afternoon then resume play at home on Jan. 10 against Pierce in the Sacramento Valley League opener.

Williams 0 – Winters 5 (12/13)
Williams 8 – Willows 0 (12/15)
After being shut out on the road in Winters, the ‘Jacket girls bounced back to blank the visiting Honkers in blowout fashion.
Statistics were not provided by Williams (2-1), who next plays in the Colusa Tournament on Jan. 6-7.

Pierce 2 – Oroville 1 (12/13)

Pierce 0 – Esparto 3 (12/16)
The Bears began last week by edging Oroville for its first win of the season, but were subsequently shut out by Anderson and Esparto in their next two contests.
Pierce (1-5) will face off against Colusa when it opens Sacramento Valley League play on Jan. 10.
Colusa 0 – Hamilton City 2 (12/13)
Colusa 1 – Gridley 4 (12/15)
Still searching for its first win this season, Colusa was shut out by Hamilton to start last week, then found itself on the short end of the score in Gridley.
No statistics were supplied by the RedHawks, who have a rematch with Gridley today at home then return to action on Jan. 6 in their home tournament. ■
