Colusa shuts out Biggs 32 – 0

While the hometown Wolverines battled to keep the score close in the first half, Biggs was no match for the RedHawks who improved to 5-0 for the season.

With the win, Colusa continued a trend of strong second half play where, according to head coach Mikey Badaluco, his team has outscored its opponents 93-14 after intermission.

Quarterback Bo Coronado turned in another significant effort completing nine of 10 passes for 217 yards and two touchdowns, equating to quarterback rating of 168.8 in the game.
Coronado’s favorite target was Landon Humphrey, who made a season-high six catches for 150 yards and a touchdown.

Isaiah Travis hauled in the other three balls for a total of 67 yards and a touchdown.
Also contributing to the final point tally was Aiden Selover, who found the end zone twice, along with newcomer Sutter Moss, who scored his first points as a RedHawk.

Colusa’s defense also had a big night, posting its second shutout of the season, led by Dominic Salazar’s game-high 13 tackles.

Julian Velasquez and William McCoy collected nine tackles apiece, while Peyton Humphrey intercepted a pass for the second week in a row.

With their preseason now complete, the RedHawks head into their bye week to make preparations for an October 7 showdown against Pierce in the Sacramento Valley League opener.

Pierce runs past Paradise 28-19

Pierce put three touchdowns on the board in the second quarter and never looked back in its win over visiting Paradise last Friday night.

Once again, the Bears, relying heavily on the ground game, rolled up close to 300 yards rushing as a team.

Manuel Lopez had touchdown runs of 40 and 55 yards on a night where he gained 150 yards on 20 carries, eclipsing the 100-yard mark for the fifth time in as many games.
Also getting into the act was David Aguirre, who added on in the second quarter with a one-yard run into the end zone.

To complete the scoring, Pierce got a 50-yard punt return from speedster Sebastian Ambriz.

For the Bear defense, which did its part as well, Luke Myers made a team-high 13 tackles, while Joey Saavedra and Cristian Garcia added eight apiece.

Also making a noteworthy effort was Roberto Ramirez, who according to head coach Anthony Tapia, had two sacks and played well on both sides of the ball.

After starting the preseason with back-to-back losses to very tough teams, Pierce enters its bye week riding a three game win streak and will return to action against county and league rival Colusa at home on October 7.

Maxwell routs Redding Christian 41–6

On the road last Friday night in Palo Cedro, the Panthers scored early and often against the Lions to come away with their first Cascade Valley League win.

Quarterback Dillon Dry set the tone in the first quarter scoring on runs of six and 15 yards respectively, but there was more to come in the second period as Maxwell gained nearly 350 yards on the ground in the first half.

Rudi Gonzalez ripped off a 33-yard run to the end zone and Berto Lara scored from two-yards out before Dry connected with Gonzalez for a 30-yard touchdown reception to round out the first half scoring.

Lara broke loose for his second score of the game, a fourth quarter 44-yard run with the Panthers simply trying to chew the clock.

For the night, Lara rushed 14 times for 138 yards and Dry gained 134 yards on 15 carries.
Gonzalez continued his strong play on both sides of the ball gaining 97 yards on the ground for the offense, while additionally making five tackles and intercepting a pass on defense.
Cale Kuska made a team-high six tackles and Robert Waite recovered a fumble.

This week Maxwell (2-3, 1-2) looks to even its record when it hosts Modoc, a team it beat 42-28 in non-conference game in Alturas back in Week 2.

Williams falls to Winters 26-49

Despite having its best offensive performance thus far this season, the Yellowjackets could not stop the visiting Warriors, and as a result concluded a difficult preseason without a win.
Williams, which actually out gained Winters in total yards 471-462, got a huge performance from quarterback Adrian Solis, who finished with a 111.6 QB rating after completing 16 of 29 passes for 302 yards and three touchdowns, in addition to running for another 125 yards on 12 carries.

Two of Solis’s touchdown passes went to Alan Rodriguez, who caught five balls for 183 yards, while the other was hauled in by Miguel Villanueva, who finished with five catches for 72 yards.

Izael Velazquez finished with a game-high 10 tackles for the ‘Jacket defense.
With a bye this week, the Yellowjackets hope to get healthy as they prepare for their first Mid-Valley League contest on October 7, when Mt. Shasta comes to town.â–
