Cathy Diane Moorehead passed away at Enloe Hospital surrounded by her loving family on June 21, 2023. Cathy was born on March 20, 1957 to Don and Jackie Moorehead in Eureka, CA. The family moved several times during her childhood following her dad’s CHP assignments. They settled in Colusa in December 1971. Cathy graduated from Colusa High School in 1975. In 1978, she married Richard Ellison, and they had two children, Josh and Sarah.
Cathy was placed on this earth to be a caregiver. For many years, she cared for handicapped and elderly clients, but they were not just clients, as they became family to Cathy. Later, she trained and worked at Rideout Hospital as a monitor technician for over 20 years. Cathy was always putting others first, always wanting to do for others.
Cathy’s children and her grandchildren were her greatest joy in life. She was the grandma everyone loved to have.
Cathy was diagnosed with Polymyositis six years ago and she fought a long and hard battle with the disease with such grace to the very end.
Cathy is survived by her son Josh (Jessica), daughter Sarah,
Grandsons Michael (Nikki), Andrew, Matthew, Levi and Evan, Great grandchildren Silas and Millie, Sisters Paulette Powell, Dawn Nissen (John), Kim Tyler and Rita Gillespie.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, July 8th, at 10:00 a.m., at the Colusa Cemetery, 1974 Wilson Ave, Colusa, followed by a reception at the Colusa Assembly of God Church, 1747 Highway 20, Colusa. A side-dish or dessert for the potluck would be welcomed. ■
