Katherine Deanne (Dorris) Pearson

05/14/1942 - 06/19/2023

Katherine Deanne (Dorris) Pearson passed away after a long illness surrounded by family, in Sacramento, CA on June 19, 2023. Deanne was born May 14, 1942, in Alturas, CA to parents Robert P. Dorris and Hazel Flournoy Dorris. She was the middle of five siblings and the only girl. Her mother bought dolls and playhouses for her only daughter, but Deanne quickly traded these items in for baseball gear and basketballs. Deanne was a great athlete and student, starring on her high school basketball team and graduating in 1960 as the top student at Modoc Union High School. She went on to study biology at UC Davis where she met and married Ralph E. Holmes, then moved to Adin, CA to raise cattle and children.

When Ralph unexpectedly passed away, Deanne moved with her 3 young children to Woodland, CA to be closer to family. While in Woodland she met Bryant D. (Joe) Pearson and moved to Colusa, CA. They married in 1978, blending families with her 3 children and his 2, and spent 44 happy years together, traveling the world and enjoying special repeat trips to Stinson Beach and Little River. Deanne, or Grandma Dee as she was known to many, was all about family. She and Joe hosted many large parties at their home over the years, including birthdays, graduations, Halloween and always, always, always Thanksgiving! She was fun, easy going and did not sweat the small stuff. Up for any adventure, she rarely turned down an opportunity to get in a car or airplane and go. She loved to watch the grandkids perform and play sports and always said yes to babysitting. She was the ultimate Giants baseball fan and shared this love with her extended family.

Many great memories were made at the Giants ballpark, at spring training in Arizona and just sitting around the TV with family and friends watching the big games. She never missed the Blue Lake/Flournoy annual family reunion and was affectionately known as “Cookie” to the kids at the Blue Lake Youth Camp she volunteered at each summer for over 50 years. She enjoyed working in her beautiful garden, attending Tuesday bridge club as well as taking walks with her dog, Shay. She lived a long and full life and is leaving behind a legacy of children and grandchildren who cherish family time. We will forever be thankful for her love and support.

Deanne is survived by her husband, Joe Pearson, children; Raymond Holmes (Kelly), Ellen McGowan(Jim), Brenda Seyk (Shawn), Vince Pearson(Carrie), Neil Pearson (Erika), grandchildren; Ashley Jordan(Steve), Diana Owsley (Keegan), Brian Pearson(Mayra), Mallory Berberich (Calvin), Molly Evans(Doug), Katie Pearson, Hannah McGowan, David Pearson(Caitlin), Devon Holmes, Gabi Garcia, Jada Garcia, Sarah Seyk, Nicholas Seyk, Claire Seyk, great grandchildren; Ava Jordan, Elle Jordan, Violet Owsley, Megan Owsley, Johnathan Wood, Brendon Wood, Mateo Pearson, Charles Pearson, brothers; Ronald Dorris (Rhonda), Roger Dorris, brothers-in-law; Jim Pearson(Vivian),Gary Dodson, sisters-in-law; Helene Dorris, Heather Johnson-Smith, Jan Pearson, Sally Pearson and many beloved nieces and nephews.
