COLUSA, CA (MPG) — Colusa Police Department welcomed two new officers during a swearing in ceremony for recruits Shelby Lynn Azevedo and Luiz Rodriguez, both recent graduates of the police academy.

Police Chief Josh Fitch introduced the officers, noting Azevedo grew up in the Vacaville area and Rodriguez in Yolo County. Fitch congratulated them on completing the academy and beginning their careers in Colusa.
“I am proud of you both for getting through the academy. It has been a long road,” Fitch said. “I am excited to get you guys started and move forward from here.”
Fitch presented each officer with a department challenge coin, telling them the first was a freebie and the next would require doing something memorable.
Colusa City Clerk Shelly Kittle administered the oaths of office. The ceremony was attended by family members, Mayor Ryan Codorniz, Mayor Pro Tem Denise Conrado, Councilmember Greg Ponciano, Councilmember Daniel Vaca, City Manager Jesse Cain, Assistant City Manager Joanne Moore, Lt. Sara Martin and Officer Newbrian Lee.
