County Fair Floriculture Results

The 2023 Floral Show in Etchepare Hall was described by judges as, certainly, one of the best in Northern California. There was some especially stiff competition in several divisions, making for lots of fun and interest. Community participation is always the key element to a great show and turnout.

Division winners are listed as follows:
■ Denise Carter – #75 maple branch and #71 cut rose.
■ Juliann Cheney – #51 hanging flowering perennial and #64 fall holiday wreath.
■ Bernice Dommer – #54 Container plant, oak leaf hydrangea.
■ Bonnie Ehrke – #55 aeonium succulent container and #74 cut asiatic lily.
■ Jan Gomes – #59 design arrangement “It’s a Holiday” Christmas.
■ Alicia Mena – #70 cut red rose and #72 cut annual.
■ Ardith Miller – #50 wall hanging planter, #52 10” or less container and #68 photo display.
■ Sally Paul – #66 design table setting “Horseshoes and Haybales”
■ Pamm Stadick – #62 design mini arrangement “Blossoms and Bees” hive and #63 humorous design arrangement in a small tire.

Best of show winners in the four areas of floriculture are:
■ John Vafis – #56 for a spectacular aeonium “tree” in Container Plants.
■ Crickett Razo – #73 perennial cut flower salvia for a dwarf Canary Island sage, the big winner in Cut Flowers and #67 Design Table Settings “Tortoise and the Hare” featuring a turtle shell-covered arrangement.
■ Alexia Sanchez – Juniors for her “Harvest” cornucopia arrangement.
■ Cynthia Peterson was voted Peoples’ Choice with a Fairy Garden Container planting being a hands-down people pleaser. ■
