Colusa Volleyball Captures SVL Crown

The Colusa RedHawks are the 2026 SVL Champions having finished conference play with a record of 11-1.

COLUSA, CA (MPG) – For the first time since 2021, the Colusa RedHawks completed the regular season as the Sacramento Valley League champions after sweeping both Durham and Paradise last week.

With the conference title on the line in Durham last Tuesday, Colusa played one its best matches of the season to down the Trojans by scores of 26-24, 25-18, 25-21 to clinch the championship.

Senior setter Cindel Oliver finished her final regular season match for Colusa with 18 assists and three aces.

Coach Kim Roper said her team played “lights out”, citing their focus and strong serving in which they missed just one over the first two sets.

Peyton Miller led the way with a 12-kill, 15-dig double-double, Abby Coronado registered nine kills and 10 digs, while setters Cindel Oliver and Leyla Avera distributed 16 and 15 assists respectively.

Marlie Berry recorded a team-high 16 digs.

Coming off the emotional win, the RedHawks returned home on Oct. 22 to dismantle Paradise 25-11, 25-4, 25-13 in a match where their firepower was just too much for the Bobcats.

Colusa’s Braelyn Santana (3) and Maci Garofalo (2) block during the RedHawks’ match against Paradise on Oct. 22.

Coronado finished with a match-high 14 kills, Miller added nine, while Kendall Marengo and Lauren Gomez pitched in with six apiece.

Oliver accounted for 18 assists and Avera dished out 13.

In the back row Berry made 14 digs.

With the regular season in the books, Colusa (27-7) deservedly received the No. 1 seed in the Northern Section CIF Division IV and entertains No. 8 Anderson (6-29) in a first-round match on Oct. 29.  With a victory, the RedHawks would advance to the second round against the winner between No. 4 Willows and No. 5 Williams on Nov. 3.
